Welcome to my site. My name is Linda.
I am a wife, mother and grandmother of 6.
Oh ……… and I just love babies and children of all ages. They are fascinating at all the different stages. Hmmmm ………….. wan’t so keen on the teenage bit as a mother. As a grandmother however, it was much easier.
I loved being a mother and love being a hands on grandmother. I feel it’s important that we are there for new mothers as mothers and grandmothers were in the past. Where the whole family looked out for each other and helped one another. There was always a ready ear to listen to problems, always plenty of hugs and plenty of people to help with the responsibility of raising a child.
Yes the world has moved on from those days but I feel that families should still be there for one another. Including the wider families of friends old and new.
With grandchildren ranging from 22 down to 2 years I have found it helps to keep up with the changes in NHS advice as far as mothers and babies go. I like to know I am giving my grandchildren the best care I can but I also use a good dose of commonsense.
As I said to one of my daughters who seemed to think Dr google had the answer to everything. Knowledge gained from a computer is only as good as the person who input the information. A wrongly placed comma or full stop can change the whole context of the information given. Advice from someone who has been there and done that a few times already can be just as useful, if not more so.
I lost a son after he was born. I had to have an emergency caesarean and sadly never got to see or hold him. He had Spina Bifida and hydrocephalus and was not considered able to survive. At the time the doctors said if he could survive 48 hours on his own then they would help him. Nowadays thank goodness it is different, the help is immediately available and the parents are encouraged to spend time with their child.
With my next 2 I was closely monitored and had Amniocentesis.
I have added links to the NHS website for various words in case you wish to know more about the conditions.
This website/blog is not only to help you to find eco friendly products but also for all those who don’t have someone to ask about various things to do with their baby or child. There are many living away from their families or don’t have a family, who feel very alone, especially with a first child.
I am not a medical professional, so any questions like that, I will research and point you in the right direction for help.
I am hoping that mothers who visit will offer their own experience with various things and this will help too.
